Lafayette Square Engagement Session
Heather and Ryan met on Instagram and were immediately attracted to one another. They have a cute ongoing joke that “Heather is a stalker” because she followed Ryan on Instagram and would like all of his posts. Ryan eventually sent her a DM on Insta, which quickly lead to their first date, and they’ve been together ever since. After their first date, they both knew there was something special between them. Fast forward to September 9th, 2018 when Ryan proposed in the sweetest and most romantic way. Here is how the proposal went from Ryan’s point of view:
“Being one of, if not the most important days of my life, I took the proposal very seriously. It had been a long time coming prior to the engagement as I started looking for THE ring in May of 2018. Heather and I had discussed the next step in our relationship, but as for the ring she didn't have "specifics." I wanted to do it on my own and make it a total surprise, so I even went through the ring "education" process with a family friend. I knew her taste, and luckily was able to bounce ideas off of her best friend and maid of honor, Kylie. The moment itself was very special and planned to a T. I wanted to keep it intimate, so game plan was to get the family's together for a long overdue winery day. There came to be a lot of questions around "why are we going to the winery" so I drew up another plan. My grandparents had a large piece of property in Festus, MO that was very scenic and kept up to par with what most local parks look like. The day before I proposed I spent about two hours planting seasonal flowers and doing various yard work in order to make it as perfect as possible for our special moment; a few other decorations were also in place. I used the excuse of "we're having lunch with my grandparents before the winery" to void any additional questions. The moment itself was priceless, as my parents, grandparents, and Kylie were all present. After I stumbled through my well planned "speech" and ended up blurting out, "marry me" Heather's first words were..."SHUT...UP." Romantic huh? Following this, I had a majority of our friends whom were able to attend surprise her at the winery.”
How cute are these two and their proposal story? 😍
Heather reached out to me in October to inquire about their wedding next year. I was happy to let her know that I have their wedding date available, and soon after we talked a bit more about their wedding and what she and her fiancé are looking for, we both knew we fit each other’s styles perfectly. We then discussed more about what wedding packages I offer and Heather and Ryan chose one of my full day coverage wedding packages that includes a complimentary engagement session. I was so excited that they chose me as their photographer to capture one of the most special days of their lives!
Heather and Ryan wanted a Fall themed engagement session and November was the perfect month to schedule a Fall session. We planned their session for November 11th and it was the most perfect time for a Fall themed engagement session because there were colorful leaves literally everywhere. Lafayette Square Park was covered in leaves all over and was just a beautiful location. Prior to their session, they were both a little nervous because they’ve never had professional photos taken before, but after the shoot was over, they said it was one of the easiest things they’ve done! Their one piece of advice to other couples preparing for their engagement session is to “just be yourselves and enjoy the time as some of the best shots came from candid moments of us just being goofy.”
Spending time with Heather and Ryan for their engagement session was so much fun as we laughed together and got to know each other a bit better. My favorite thing about their session was capturing how in love they are with one another while their true personalities shined through. They were so sweet and down for anything I suggested during the session, which was awesome because I was able to capture some of the sweetest and intimate moments as well as some bubbly moments of them just being goofy and laughing!
The future Mr. and Mrs. Meda have set their wedding date to September 28th, 2019 at the beautiful venue Willow located in downtown St. Louis. They both love the simple, yet elegant style that’s located in the city, which made Willow the perfect venue for both their ceremony and reception. The vibe they are going for will be a modern, chic, and laid back with a neutral color scheme. They’re enjoying every moment of being engaged but can’t wait to be married and spend forever together! I also cannot wait for their wedding because I get to capture their love for each other as they become Mr. and Mrs. Meda with all of their loved ones by their sides!
